Beware of Lawcrossing

Just reviewed my bank records and saw that lawcrossing billed me $200 for account renewal even though I hadn't been on that site for over a year. Lawcrossing.com claims to be a legal recruiter and legal job source. A buddy of mine recommended the site 2 years ago and me being the good lemming that I was I signed up. Of course it never got me a call back or even a email response but this billing charge is complete bullshit. I've already contacted the bank to dispute the charges. Here are some links.

For those that are looking for legal jobs please stay the hell away from this service. And as a general rule always always always review your credit and bank account statement every month because these companies love to bill for shit all the time. I rarely purchase anything online for this reason.

  1. I hope that someone looks into the fraudulent practices of job recruiters ("Headhunters) generally. In my experience, it's quite common for Headhunters to advertise openings for jobs that don't exist, or, they send in your resume together with the resumes of 10 other applicants.

  2. As someone who works in the recruiting industry, the revenue is made off the prospective employer at either a fixed rate per position, or a percentage of salary. Any "recruiter" that charges the candidates a fee is full of it.

  3. As with anything, if there were jobs they could put me in, they would happily, I'm sure, ask me for a percentage of my eventual bonus or salary when I started the job they found for me.

When there are no jobs to put people in, your business model is basically that of a gym: Sign people up and bill them every month automatically. Most of the time you're going to be simply taking money from people who never will derive any benefit from their subscription.

  4. Definitly a scam. Tried to cancel during the "free trial" -- my card still got charged. Called customer service several times (talked to the same two reps: Cyrus and Steve) who took turns telling me that their supervisor was busy and to call back in an hour-- and that the terms of service allowed them to charge me, despite their very clear "satisfaction guarantee" to the contrary. The solution: I called their "associated" company BCG-- they connected me with a real person from lawcrossing who promised to refund the charge. (We'll see). BBB grades them as an F; California SOS lists the company as forfeited status (not in good standing).

  5. I was also scammed. The person who answers the phone always claims that there is no supervisor available or that he is the supervisor Save your money!

  7. Thank you anonymous who associated that we could get different live people by calling BCG. Phone numbers/address are as follows:

    BCG Offices:

    California - Los Angeles
    202 S Lake Ave, Unit 250, Pasadena, CA 91101

    p 213-895-7300 f 213-895-7306 toll-free 800-298-6440

There, I spoke with a woman who works for BCG, but supposedly will access the Lawcrossing acct. that owes me money. Prior, I spoke to Steve at Lawcrossing and informing him that he needed to refund the money due to the fact that the contract is unenforceable and that I did follow the listed procedures nevertheless, he stated they cannot refund my money. I phoned the attorney listed above and let a message. Then, I phoned BCG and the woman promised she would get the refund executed and ensure no future charge. I have already cancelled the card, but bank will allow the refund. I will advise if it occurs.

Did anyone get their money back as of yet?

  8. I too was scammed. I signed up for 3 months. I was charged passed the 3 months. When I complained, I was informed that even if you sign up for only three months, you have to call them to cancel after the 3 months otherwise the membership will be automatically renewed. If that is not a first class scam, I don't know what is.

  9. Rip off. Don't use it. They will charge you and not refund your money even if you cancel within the free trial. Plus the website kept crashing and you can find all the same job postings for free. I got Steve on the phone too. Told me it was all my fault. Asked for supervisor and said she was gone for the day. Call back tomorrow. Same joke.

    1. Same thing happened to me with the "free trial"! Cancelled in writing same day when it became blatently obvious they had nothing offer. Jobs already filled or available on other website. LAW CROSSINGS IS A SCAM. BEWARE.

  14. As the Manager for LawCrossing, I would like to provide a response to your comments. A couple years ago, we made very dramatic changes to LawCrossing. We are continually making changes to our programs and website to improve our clients' experiences. Our customer service now is fantastic, and if you give us a chance, we can show you. We changed our employer job posting platform as well, and we are getting fantastic responses for all legal jobs. I deal personally with our employers regularly and know they would provide positive feedback. We are not just job aggregation, but we also have employers who post jobs with us bringing all legal jobs from across the internet and other sources. This makes us the most comprehensive legal job board you will find, which is why there is a fee. I would challenge anyone that has not tried LawCrossing recently, to give us a try. We will be happy to offer a free month of service for anyone willing to take this opportunity to see how we have changed. You may also call me regarding any questions about this feed directly at 626-243-9365.

    1. I know I'm coming in late to this, but if LawCrossing were really serious about change, and about addressing the numerous complaints posted here, the first thing it would do, and the primary thing it would want to report, is provide an easy way to terminate a subscription online, both during the free trial and thereafter. If it doesn't do that, in light of its history and failing BBB rating, it cannot be trusted and no one should use it.

    2. Making someone cancel by telephone, where no paper trail exists, and no evidence is readily available to subscribers to prove / establish that they did in fact cancel on a certain date and at a certain time, is, prima facie, an indicator of fraudulent intent.

  15. Wow, in 2019, LawCrossing is still scamming vulnerable job searchers! You can find way more job listings through craigslist, your local bar association website, and other free sites. I found LawCrossing.com to be useless with out-of-date postings and shady employers.

Also, if you give LawCrossing your email address, they will start sending you copious amounts of SPAM and annoying emails that overwhelm your inbox.

Finally, if you sign up for a free or $1 etc. trial period then cancel within the required period, make sure to get a confirmation number, save it, and check your credit card to see if they are billing you despite the cancellation. I signed up for the trial period deal then cancelled within the required time frame by phone (the only option I saw at the time). The phone rep gave me a confirmation number but did not also email it to me. Unfortunately, I lost the confirmation number....

About six months later, I realized that LawCrossing had been charging my credit card every month even though I had cancelled! When I contacted customer service, they were extremely rude and refused to refund me my money without a confirmation number. I offered to compromise (refund for half the months) and asked them to be reasonable as they could check their records to see that I had not logged in during all those months. They would not budge.
